Dreams

Year of Kings. Day 255. I like the metaphor of creativity being a river. You get in, step in, fall in - and you are taken down the river and you don’t know where you will wash up. These days it’s a fast moving river indeed. But I don’t want to get out. I want to keep swimming, keep floating, keep creating, racing down the river, and see where this goes.

Year of Kings. Day 256. Our dreams are bigger than their fears. (Just working on lyrics for a new song.)

Year of Kings. Day 257. We have a show at The Railyard this Thursday night. The time says 7pm but we’ll get going closer to 8. I remember when I first started playing - and the entire experience was so overwhelming that my brain would forget to hit the record button and I’d get off stage with little memory of what happened. Now we play about 40 shows a year - and I’m grateful to be from Black Mountain because there are a dozen stages for a town of 8000 people, so there’s always somewhere to play.

Year of Kings. Day 258. Kevin Moloney has set a day for mixing in mid February. I like collaborations. I like collaborators. These songs are strong. They have good bones. We recorded them in a great room, with great history, great mics, everyone going for it - and the air actually shimmered. Now the wizard will mix all these elements together.

Year of Kings. Day 259. Craig’s was misbehaving so we stuck him in a corner and made him face the wall. Playing tonight at The Railyard in Black Mountain. Come along for a 7pm start.

Year of Kings. Day 260. Show 26 happened last night. I am trying to document everything during this year - but I forgot to count our New Years Eve show and then the Orange Peel show - so here we are 26 shows in 260 days. All caught up. It makes sense - we’re playing a show about every 10 days. We try to book a show every week.

Year of Kings. Day 261. Self-belief is radiating. The band is aligning. I wish I’d known this earlier. If everyone in the band is aligned, and there’s nowhere else we’d rather be, and we’re all hungry for the next show and the next practice… well… then…. maybe our band is going somewhere.
