Blue

Year of Kings. Day 227. Blue. New Years Eve. It is a start of the traditional new year. Blue is our color. Blue. Our violin is blue. Our old prom dresses were blue. Our souls are blue like the sky. And our music goes whistling through the air. We are lightness. We glide and dance and have winged feet.

Year of Kings. Day 228. Craig playing Pac-Man. Happy New Year. You will be seeing a lot of us in this coming year.

Year of Kings. Day 229. We’re up in lights - on the marquee. The big time. Please come out to the show - because there is such a great scene happening here and @_aunt_vicki and @fashionbathasheville are fantastic - writing, playing, performing just great music. I promise you will have a great time.

Year of Kings. Day 230. We’re going to record a segment with Jordan Coppinger of The River tomorrow afternoon which will get played on the air next Monday or Tuesday. Just gearing up the marketing for the show at The Orange Peel next Thursday - getting the word out there. It’ll be fun, play a couple of tunes, chat a little, hang out.

Year of Kings. Day 231. Mythology is important to a band. The story about the music. A bunch of us were in an earlier band called “the Egg Eaters” - we had t-shirts and posters and put up street art about the band way before we had a show. Dark City Kings had a mythology when it was just playing covers. And we believed hard enough - and the myths are becoming true. Craig is a big shot, Bayla is a badass, Colleen is the Debbie Harry of Black Mountain, Kyrie’s violin breaks our hearts, Merlin is a genius with every instrument. (p.s. - from Bayla - you forgot the part about JP writing instant hits… and casting magic spells 🪄)

Year of Kings. Day 232. Thanks to @981theriver and Jordan Coppinger for having the Dark City Kings in to play some songs and promote our show at @the_orange_peel with @fashionbathasheville and @_aunt_vicki next Thursday. Our interview will air on Monday at 4:30. Colleen has a cold - and missed out on the radio show.
