The Countdown

Year of Kings. Day 233. Five days and two practices left before the show at The Orange Peel on Thursday night. This is what is looks like behind the scenes - the set list is being pulled and pushed at, and the “look” is being discussed - what are we wearing and how cohesive will we be and what colors are important, and how do we make a final push to invite people, and how are we going to frame the actual performance? The most important preparation is getting everyone in the band confident and happy and excited - to put on a show without nerves.
Year of Kings. Day 234. I found this secret world, overlayed right on top of the regular world. This spirit ghost magic world - that you can step inside and fall into this space of imagination and beauty and performance and gangs and adrenalin and wildness and getting on stage and staying up to late and dancing into the night. It’s right there. Just shimmering, vibrating, shining right there.
Year of Kings. Day 235. We process life through art, through music. It all comes in. Everything floods us with experience and energy and emotion. Art, music is how we make sense of it. Without art and music we’d explode.
Year of Kings. Day 236. What will you hear on Thursday night at The Orange Peel showcase with @fashionbathasheville and @_aunt_vicki - ?? We’re going for it. We’ll have some elements of country and mountain music from our original release - but we’re heading toward glam garage indie pop with big hooks, big melodies, big song-a-long choruses - songs about divas, helicopters, bad kids at private schools, party clothes…
