Pop Songs
Year of Kings. Day 276. We recorded with Kevin Moloney a couple of weeks ago - and we were supposed to get the mixes done this weekend. That has been postponed until the first weekend in March. More than excited. Can’t wait. Can’t get enough of hanging out with Kevin Moloney - such a sweet magical person.
Year of Kings. Day 277. The Odditorium in Asheville is a punk joint. We had our loudest and fastest songs on the set list. People in the crown nodded their heads, gently appreciating us. Then we played “Trouble” - straight up major chords - the least cool music genre of them all - just a big big pop song. And people got out of their seats, pushed up from the wall, and danced. Danced. Well…. If you all secretly like pop music… here we go!
Year of Kings. Day 278. What is it called - you know - when everything is going great - way better than expected - but it begins to make you feel nervous - you know - the next steps should work out, but…. ????? Be brave. Walk carefully. Listen. Keep everyone close and everyone involved. Be brave.
Year of Kings. Day 279. We went into the studio with Kevin Moloney - and had a great time. Recorded 8 tracks over a weekend. We need a couple more tracks for an album - so we’re working this out. When we finished that recording session we didn’t take a break, headed back into our practice space and wrote and wrote, stayed in the river, and we’re gonna let Kevin Moloney hear our new stuff.
Year of Kings. Day 280. We’re playing St. Patrick’s Day at @shilohandgaines in Asheville, March 17, 7-10 pm. St. Patrick’s Day is like New Years Eve - gotta play a show that night.Year of Kings.
Day 281. We walked up into the mountains looking for wisdom and came down carrying two stone tablets with these commandments- 1: write catchy pop songs, 2: be nice, 3) act like the Go-Go’s and be the fun-loving bratty younger siblings of the scene.
