Transcendent

Year of Queens. Day 141. We want you to like our songs. We want you to hear them and move to the rhythm. We want you to understand what we’re trying to say. We want you to feel the same joy we feel when we’re playing these songs. Actually we want more for you. We want you to have a better time than us. We want you to have a minor transcendent moment. That’s all.

Year of Queens. Day 142. We’ve been cooking. We’ve gone out into the night and seen the multitude of stars. We pointed our ship toward the edges of the map where no one has gone before. We’ve headed into the wild.

Year of Queens. Day 143. We slowly slide down the Euro Indie charts. Things are slowly re-opening in the mountains and I think we have like 4 shows coming up!

Year of Queens. Day 144. Maybe the Year of Kings was all about doors opening - playing at the Orange Peel, recording with Kevin Moloney, getting some nice music press. Maybe the Year of Queens is about not taking this for granted. I tell you this: when the world is turned upside down then every practice is precious and every song we write together is precious and every show is precious and every friendship is precious.

Year of Queens. Day 145. Working on band messaging and marketing. 1: Get really drunk to Love is Punk. 2: Do the wild thing to the Dark City Kings.

Year of Queens. Day 146. We’ve written like 18 new songs this year. We write them in the practice room. Maybe I’ll have some chords and a verse or chorus but they only become our songs when everyone in the room picks them up and makes it into a collective song - with melody and riffs and rhythm and bridges and hooks and energy.

Year of Queens. Day 147. If we’re winning we’re winning. If we’re losing we’re free.
