Optimism

Year of Kings. Day 306. We wake up and think - how do we keep this going? We don’t know what the next show will be like - but we keep going. We don’t know where the next song will come from - but we keep going. We walk this road with faith that the unwritten song and the next show will be good, will be great. In this time of pessimism - optimism is a rebellion.

Year of Kings. Day 307. Shiloh & Gaines. There’s an older lady in a wheelchair in the photo. She rocked out harder than anyone else in Asheville on St. Patrick’s Day. She sat about six feet from the stage - and she literally rocked out harder than anyone else.

Year of Kings. Day 308. Show 30. Playing at The Railyard tonight at 7pm. See you then.

Year of Kings. Day 309. There’s a couple who come along to our shows. Another woman too. Such nice people. There’s been a bunch of people reaching out to us for shows. There’s a bunch of people who have helped us with recordings - so wonderful. And there’s a bunch of band members who really think about how to build a song - how to put the songs first - the best. I am grateful.

Year of Kings. Day 310. Working on poster designs. Looking toward the summer. There’s a real world of booking shows and getting music out there - and then there’s the imaginary world of writing songs and trying to listen for the energy swirling above us. We’ve been in the real world for a couple of weeks now and I can’t wait to get back to the imaginary world.

Year of Kings. Day 311. Yeah. Love is Punk. And punk is noisy and messy and DIY and art and looking out for others and anti-establishment and if everyone is all about wars and being angry with each other - then - yeah - love is punk.
